Mark and his family currently reside at 9 Ashley Court in the Pecan Park Estates Phase 2 Subdivision.  He grew up in Long Beach and attended Long Beach Public Schools and graduated from Long Beach High School in 1975 before leaving to pursue an architectural degree at Mississippi State University.  He earned a Bachelor of Architecture from Mississippi State University in 1983 and lived in Memphis, Tennessee for seventeen years before returning to Long Beach with his family in January 2000.  He is married to Donna Lishen and has two sons, Ethan and Carter.  

Mark is a partner with Eley Guild Hardy Architects, an architectural firm with offices in Biloxi and Jackson, where he is Partner-in-Charge of Business Development for their federal government and military markets.   He is a current member of the American Institute of Architects and was past president of the Mississippi Gulf Coast Section of the American Institute of Architects.  He is a current member of the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards, where he is a registered architect in Mississippi, Tennessee and Arkansas. Mark is also a member of the United States Green Building Council (USGBC), and actively promotes smart-growth economic development and sustainable design.
